France 2025 - Cinematics
Overview
Cinematic fragments from the French Alps and Mediterranean coastline, stitched into an atmospheric short film. Each piece captures the motion and mood of place - from the quiet stillness of alpine mornings to the rhythm of coastal life along the Riviera.
The project explores the space between travel footage and cinematic storytelling, finding narrative in landscape and light.
The Postcard Approach
Every shot in the film was conceived as a postcard - a carefully framed moment where the camera sits still, with no central subject demanding attention. Instead, the lens captures the natural movement of everything and everyone within the frame: locals passing through a cobblestone street, light shifting across alpine peaks, boats drifting in a harbour.
This approach invites the viewer to pause and absorb the scene as a whole. Without a focal point directing the eye, you begin to notice the subtle details - the texture of weathered stone, the rhythm of waves against a seawall, the distant hum of conversation. These postcards don't just show a location; they transport you there, offering a sensory impression of the sounds, atmosphere, and day-to-day life of each place.
